Well I've just pushed the 'buy' button and bought a second hand professionally-modified 1100D for £259 inc. postage. The modified 1100D will now become my main astro DSLR with the 1000D being used for terrestrial photography and for tracked wide field astro shots with a camera lens (either piggy-backed on the main scope or on my Astrotrac) whilst using the 1100D through the telescope.
